Karnataka: Women stage strike demanding liquor ban

Bagalkot: Women from various parts of Karnataka -Ballari, Raichur, Tumakuru and Chikmagalur districts have descended on the Sangamantha Temple, Koodalasangma on the banks of the Krishna river launching an indefinite strike for their single demand – a total ban on the distribution of liquor in the state. The strike is being organised by the ‘Karnataka Madya Nisheda Andolana’ (Karnataka Liquor Prohibition Movement).
