The schools in Karnataka are set to reopen from next week for several districts and the important guidelines are mentioned below.
The government of Karnataka has recently announced that the schools in the state are set to reopen in certain districts from August 23. The schools will only reopen for districts where the Covid-19 test positivity rate is less than 2 percent, as per the government. The state government has also issued several Covid-19 safety guidelines for the school administration to follow while resuming physical classes. The announcement regarding the reopening of schools was made by Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. CM Bommai said, “They have said (technical experts) that once schools are opened, if the positivity goes above two percent in the area and province where the school is located, then the school should be closed for a week and cleaned and then re-opened. - The schools will only reopen for physical classes in districts where the Covid-19 test positivity rate is less than 2 percent.
- If the positivity rate increases once classes resume in the districts, the schools will be shut down once again.
- All students and staff members will be required to wear a mask on school premises.
- Strict social distancing norms will be followed by the students and staff members. All common areas such as swimming pools and assembly halls will remain closed.
- It is mandatory to be vaccinated and adhere to the Covid-19 guidelines for all the staff working in the school along with the parents who will be visiting the school.
- Non-vaccinated personnel and parents will not be allowed to enter the school premises.
- The chief minister announced that the vaccination and testing procedures in the state would be ramped up.
- The Covid-19 guidelines for schools will keep on changing with respect to the situation in the state.
