Several students who completed II pre-university course last academic year were in for a shock when they received their marks cards last week as they are riddled with spelling mistakes.
The principal of a city-based college said of the 307 students who appeared for the exam from his college, at least 40 had said that their marks cards had errors in their names, father’s name, and other details.
“There were errors in the hall tickets of these candidates and they were asked to get them rectified at the centre where they had to write the exam. But authorities at the centre where our students went probably have not submitted the changes, which is why the errors are reflected in the marks card as well,” the principal said.
Many of these students have now got admission to colleges based on the provisional marks card and they are yet to submit their original marks card.
A student said her marks card has an error in her last name. Apart from this, she said, “I took the exam in English medium, but the marks cards says Kannada medium.”
Officials of the Department of Pre-University Education said college principals had been asked to intimate them if there were any errors and return such marks cards.
“The first round of corrections have already been completed,” an official said.
