BENGALURU: Satish U R, a native of Tumkur district landed early morning in the city to meet his kins in NIMHANS hospital. "I thought I would get a bus early in the morning before the protestors even wake up to obstruct the city's functioning. There was none. Auto rickshaws charged a bomb of Rs 500 to go anywhere and after negotiations it came to Rs 300", he complained. The Karnataka Bandh has been called on by Kannada Chaluvali Vatala Paksha and other pro-kannada organisations for the delay in implementation of Kalasa-Banduri canal project connected to Mahadayi river in north Karnataka. This river provides drinking water to the entire Hubbalii--Gadag region. BMTC and KSRTC have decided not to run the services till noon fearing damage to buses. BMTC is likely to start services after 12 noon depending on the law and order situation. Metro and railway services are on. But fuel filling stations are shut. Private cars, taxis and app-based cab services are also available. Milk services also have not been disrupted. -TOI
