Karnataka Assembly Elections dates announced; Find out polling date and other details

Bhatkal 27 March 2018: The Election Commission on Tuesday announced polling dates for Karnataka at press conference in New Delhi. According to the Om Prakash Rawat, Chief Election Commissioner of India, assembly elections in Karnataka will be held on 12 May. The date of issue of notification will be 17 April 2018.
Rawat further informed counting of votes and results will be announced on 15 May. The last date for candidates to file their nominations is 24 April and the scrutiny of candidates will be done on 25 April. Candidates can withdraw their candidature by 27 April.
"Election dates have been selected after careful consideration of all factors, including climate, academics, exams, festivals, prevailing law and order situation in the state, availability of central police forces and time needed for their induction and movements for timely deputation," said Rawat at the media briefing.
