Kannada Saahithya Parishath district-level elections conclude, Arvind Karki emerges victorious

Febuary 29, 2016 | Correspondent | Bhatkallys News Bhatkal: Renowned Kannada writer Arvind Karki Kodi has won the Kannada Saahithya Parishath elections for the Uttar Karnataka district with a margin of seven votes in the elections held yesterday. In all, 1725 voters exercised their right to vote out of which Arvind Karki got 866 votes while his opponent secured 859 votes. Kannada Saahithya Parishath is an Indian non-profit organisation that promotes the Kannada language. Its headquarters is in the city of Bengaluru in the state of Karnataka, India. It strives to promote Kannada language through publishing books, organising literary seminars and promoting research projects. It also organises an annual conference on Kannada literature called Kannada Sahithya Sammelana. - ARF
