"Journalists must be given enough freedom to highlight problems in administration" Bhatkal Taluka Working Journalist Association submits memorandum to Tahsildar

Bhatkal 11 January 2019: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Condemning the fake case registered on three press reporters at Karwar, the Journalist association of Bhatkal Taluka on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to Tahsildar urging to take strict action against the those who stopped the reporters from doing their duties.
The Memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister of Karnataka stated that “Three press reporters from Karwar had visited Government college of Engineering to enquire, after they received information that the college allegedly involved in encouraging student to copy during the exam time. However the college staff registered a case on January 5 at Chitakol police station of Karwar and alleged that they illegally entered the college premises and started to take videos of the students during the examination”.
The memorandum further stated that “The journalist should be given enough freedom to highlight the problems of people, report against the wrong doings of any departments and showcase the achievements of people. The fake case registered against the three journalists who tried to expose truth must be taken back and strict actions needs to be initiated against those who registered the case.”
Shankar Gowda, Ragavendra, Vishnu Devadiga, Udaya Naik, Prasanna Bhat, Rizwan Gangavali, Vasant Devadiga, Yayha Hallare and others were present at the Tahsildar office while handing over the memorandum.
