Job fair in city to boost Modi's Skill India initiative on February 27

MANGALURU: Rooman Technologies, training partner of the Union Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, is all set to popularize Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) in Mangaluru. Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel will join hands with Rooman Technologies to hold a mega job fair at Sahyadri College Campus in Adyar in the city on February 27. The job fair will be held to give fillip to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's flagship outcome-based skill training scheme that aims at providing skill training to 24 lakh youth along with government certification and financial reward. Unemployed youth in Dakshina Kannada district may take part in the job fair, where various companies, institutions and banks will conduct interview for over 2,000 vacancies. The MP has drawn a plan to introduce the scheme to unemployed youth of the district through the job fair, which will witness participation of more than 75 employers. Kateel said that the PMKVY not only provides skill training to youth, but also ensures government certification and financial reward. "Candidates, from school dropouts to graduates who are unemployed, may get trained in 32 skills under the PMKVY scheme of the government. To mobilise the scheme, we have planned a job fair in association with Rooman Technologies that provide skill training," Kateel said. Rooman Technologies CEO Manish Kumar said the company has already trained over 1.5 lakh candidates across the nation under PMKVY. To avail the benefits under PMKVY, candidates need to enroll at Rooman centres in any of the course from the list of skills in specified sectors. After the successful completion of the training, candidates will receive the monetary rewards directly to their account, he said adding that the skill training programme under PMKVY has 100% placement assistance.
