JIH delegation visits Imam university in Riyadh

RIYADH, Feb 23, 2011 (Arab News): Dr. Suleiman Abalkhail, president of Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University in Riyadh on Tuesday held talks with a delegation from Indian Jamaat-e-Islami led by Professor Siddique Hassan Abdullah.
Abdullah briefed the university president on Jamaat's efforts to spread the message of Islam in India by holding a variety of programs including seminars and conferences and publishing books on Islam in different Indian languages.
The Jamaat leader also spoke about the Vision 2016 project aimed at implementing a large number of educational, health and social welfare projects in different parts of the country.
More than 125 projects have been implemented under Vision 2016 during the past years, benefiting over a million people. The project targets 10 million beneficiaries in a span of 10 years.
The welfare projects are being supervised by the Human Welfare Trust, an umbrella organization that has several distinguished and experienced community leaders on its board of trustees. It has 50 NGOs as its affiliates spreading over 20 states.
Dr. Abalkhail appreciated Jamaat's Islamic and humanitarian activities in India. He discussed with the delegation prospects of cooperation between the university and Jamaat.
Abalkhail briefed the delegation on the university's courses and its colleges and institutes inside and outside Saudi Arabia. The delegation, which included Ibrahim Malabari, visited the Higher Institute of Justice and the College of Shariah in the campus.
