JIH Bhatkal holds awareness programme on beneficial govt schemes

May 11, 2015 | Correspondent | Bhatkallys News Bhatkal: The Central Government and the State Government have released many schemes for the poor and helpless sick people but we do not take advantage of them as we do not have the right information, because of which, money released for these schemes are improperly utilized. In a bid to create awareness about these schemes, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Bhatkal organized an awareness program at Dawat Center Bhatkal in which Syed Irfan, a specialist in this field, gave information about 15 schemes from the government which the poor and the destitute can take advantage of. The information about these schemes is given below: 1. Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) - RSBY has been launched by Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India to provide health insurance coverage for Below Poverty Line (BPL) families. The objective of RSBY is to provide protection to BPL households from financial liabilities arising out of health shocks that involve hospitalization. Beneficiaries under RSBY are entitled to hospitalization coverage up to Rs. 30,000/- for most of the diseases that require hospitalization. 2. Rashtriya Arogya Nidhi (RAN) - Rashtriya Arogya Nidhi was set up under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare in 1997. The scheme provides for financial assistance to patients, living below poverty line who is suffering from major life threatening diseases, to receive medical treatment at any of the super specialty hospitals/institutes or other Govt. hospitals. The financial assistance to such patients is released in the form of "one time grant" to the Medical Superintendent of the hospital in which the treatment is being received. For providing financial assistance to the needy patients, an amount up to Rs.1,00,000/- can be sancationed for treatment in the respective Hospitals/Institute. 3. Health Minister’s Discretionary Grant (HMDG) - Under the HMDG scheme, a maximum assistance of Rs. 100,000 can be given to the poor and needy as part of the expenditure incurred on hospitalisation for major surgical interventions and treatment of major diseases including heart ailments, kidney transplant, hip and knee replacement, cancer, AIDS, hepatitis and tumour. 4. Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) - It is utilized primarily to render immediate relief to families of those killed in natural calamities like floods, cyclones and earthquakes, etc. and to the victims of the major accidents and riots. Assistance from PMNRF is also rendered, to partially defray the expenses for medical treatment like heart surgeries, kidney transplantation, cancer treatment, etc. 5. Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) - JSY is a safe motherhood intervention under the National Rural Health Mission (NHM). It is being implemented with the objective of reducing maternal and neonatal mortality by promoting institutional delivery among poor pregnant women. The scheme provides for financial assistance for up to two live births to the pregnant women who have attained 19 years of age and belong to the below poverty line (BPL) households. 6. Chief Minister's Relief Fund - It aims at providing immediate relief in the form of financial assistance to the people affected by the major natural calamities like flood, drought, fire accident etc. It also provides financial assistance to the economically weaker citizens for treatment of some of the major diseases. 7. Sandhya Suraksha Yojane - It is to help senior citizens living below the poverty line to get a monthly pension. 8. Vajpayee Arogyashree scheme - It is a unique healthcare scheme introduced by the Govt of Karnataka through the Suvarna Arogya Suraksha Trust to provide tertiary medical care for treatment of identified diseases involving hospitalization, surgery and therapies through an identified network of healthcare providers for people living below the poverty line. This scheme is a cashless scheme where the premium is paid by the government directly to the healthcare providers after the beneficiaries avail medical facilities. 9. Yeshasvini Health Insurance Scheme - It is designed for the farming community to undergo hospitalisation when required at a medical centre of their choice. Any member of a rural cooperative society, who has completed six months of membership, is eligible for enrolment after paying a premium of Rs. 210. 10. Jyothi Sanjeevini Scheme(JSS) - It is a comprehensive health care to the Government employees, wherein the Scheme provides cashless treatment to all the Government Employees and their dependants through an empanelled Network of Hospitals for Tertiary Care. The scheme covers tertiary treatment of 7 broad specialities viz cardio-vascular diseases, cancer, renal diseases, neurological diseases, burns, poly-trauma cases and neo-natal cases. It includes “449 procedures“ pertaining to seven specialities stated above. 11. Suvarna Arogya Chaitanya (SAC) - SAC facilitates mass health checkups of students (from class one to ten) in government, aided and unaided schools across the state with the support of Department of Public Instruction (DPI) and Department of Health and Family Welfare (DHFW). 12. Rajiv Arogya Bhagya Scheme(RAB) - Specially designed for the Above Poverty Line(APL), this scheme is to provide quality “Tertiary Health Care” for treatment of catastrophic illnesses involving hospitalization, surgery, and other therapies through an identified Network of super-speciality Hospitals. The benefit shall be limited to Rs. 1.5 lakhs, also “on a sharing basis”; per household per year, wherein any one member or more than one member of the family can avail the treatment within the prescribed financial limit. 13. Maulana Azad Sehat Scheme - Under the scheme, Sehat Card will be issued to every student of the Institution financially aided by Maulana Azad Education Foundation (MAEF). 14. Karnataka State Wakf Foundation Scheme - Karnataka State Wakf Foundation for Women Development under the Karnataka Wakf Council is working to give the social and economical help to the women and minority community citizens. Under the scheme, the department is giving funds and scholarship facility for all girls and Muslim community persons to get their education. 15. Arogya Bhagya Yojana - It was introduced by Karnataka Government for Police Personnel and their families. This scheme is a self-financing scheme managed through monthly contribution from the Police Personnel themselves & through medical reimbursement from the Government.
