Arvind Kejriwal today said his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had "no alliance" with any party, amid reports of a Congress rethink on external support to his government. The chief minister designate, who has turned down any security cover or a bungalow that comes with his new role, also said, "I don't need security. The people are my security."
HERE ARE THE LATEST UPDATES ON THIS STORY:
  1. Mr Kejriwal today insisted that his party does not have an alliance or tie-up with any party. "We are concentrating on issues, not support. Whoever supports our 18-point agenda supports us," he said reacting to reports of a Congress rethink over extending support to the AAP.
  2. Senior Congress leader Janardhan Dwivedi admitted yesterday that that a large section of the party does not believe it should support the AAP. A report suggested that Congress MLA and former minister Arvinder Singh Lovely shot off a letter to AAP demanding to know its roadmap for governance, but he has denied it. (Yes, there is deep divide over support for AAP, says Congress)
  3. Mr Kejriwal, who will be Chief Minister, said after his government starts work, it will immediately start the auditing of Discoms, or power distribution companies who have been accused of overcharging consumers.
  4. The AAP government will also begin the supply of 700 litres of water free to every Delhi household "within 24 hours of taking over", Mr Kejriwal said. This promise, expected to cost the government 340 crores a year, was described as unrealistic by the outgoing Congress, which was decimated by the one-year old AAP after three successive terms in Delhi.
  5. AAP faced a potential crisis on Tuesday when its newly elected legislator Vinod Kumar Binny reportedly revolted after being left out of the list of ministers for the Delhi cabinet. After a late night meeting with AAP leaders Sanjay Singh and Kumar Vishwas, Mr Binny today denied any rift. (AAP leader Vinod Binny denies rift with party over cabinet post)
  6. "Who says I am upset with the party? I am not here to be a minister. The party must have decided on some other responsibility for me," Mr Binny told reporters today.
  7. Mr Kejriwal said the portfolios of the ministers would be announced in a day or two. Manish Sisodia, who is among the party's 28 newly-elected legislators, is expected to get an important portfolio. Rakhi Birla, 26, will be the youngest member of the cabinet. She defeated heavyweight Rajkumar Chauhan, the Public Works Department Minister in the outgoing Sheila Dikshit government, by about 10,500 votes. (Arvind Kejriwal's AAP picks its ministers, sends 6 names to Lt Governor)
  8. The year-old Aam Aadmi Party made a stunning debut and placed second in the Delhi elections. The BJP was in first place but did not manage a majority and said it would not try to form the government. The Congress was relegated to a paltry third place.
  9. Mr Kejriwal has refused police security and a large house as chief minister. He says he wants to live in a small flat instead in the capital. He has repeatedly asserted that his to-do list includes decimating the "VIP culture" that politicians are attuned to.
  10. At a 'janta durbar' or public meeting this morning, he said, "the people are my biggest security. Whoever is worried about my security, please pray. That is all I ask for."         arvind_kejriwal_junta_darbar_close_360_635235652691330827NDTV
