Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Bhatkal felicitates Prof retiring after 25 years of service in town

Bhatkal, December 28: A felicitation programme was held in Bhatkal on December 28 to honour R.S. Naik, Head of the Kannada Department at Anjuman Degree College, on the occasion of his retirement after decades of service in the fields of education and literature.

 

The programme was organised jointly by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind and Sadbhavana Manch.

 

Speaking after being felicitated, Prof. R.S. Naik said that a person should first live as a human being. He stressed the need to rise above narrow identities of religion and caste and to live with mutual understanding and harmony. He said human values must remain supreme.

 

Sharing his experiences of over 25 years in Bhatkal, Prof. Naik recalled the riot and curfew days of the 1990s. He said there was an urgent need to break the growing walls of hatred in society and build bridges of love and coexistence.

 

The programme was presided over by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Bhatkal unit president Maulana Syed Zubair S.M. Sadbhavana Manch secretary Raza Manvi, and Bhatkal taluk Kannada Sahitya Parishat president and Sadbhavana Manch office-bearer Gangadhar Naik also spoke on the occasion.

 

The programme was compered by Prof. Ravoof Ahmed Savanur, who also proposed the vote of thanks.

 

Office-bearers of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind and Sadbhavana Manch, colleagues from Anjuman College, local dignitaries and students were present at the event.
