Jaali panchayat promoted to urban panchayat

According to sources, the state government has upgraded the status of 54 panchayats and promoted them to the status of urban panchayat, that includes Bhatkal's Jaali Panchayat. A request to upgrade Jaali panchayat (population - 19,362) to urban panchayat was long pending and this time the state government has given an approval. - ARF
