IT officials inspect transactions at Bhatkal cooperative bank

Bhatkallys News Service Bhatkal, 06 January 2017: Income Tax Department, Mangalore on Wednesday carried out a surprise  inspection  at the  Bhatkal Urban Co-operative bank Bhatkal (HQ branch) as part of the ongoing drive post-demonetisation. Around 10-12 officials of the  IT department  entered the Urban Bank around 12:30pm on Wednesday. Customer transactions were halted for few hours and resumed on  regulated mode while the  next day saw full resumption of  services though the inspection continued simultaneously.  Few customers whose accounts were credited with more than 49 thousand rupees post-demonetisation were summoned and their statements recorded and let off by the IT dept. No mismanagement  was found. The Bhatkal Urban co-operative bank has a total of ten branches spread across Uttara Kannada, Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts. Aburrazzack, the general manager of Bhatkal Urban Co-operative bank Bhatkal, said, "All  our  banks are careful to abide by the stipulations laid down by the Reserve Bank of India and thus we have nothing to hide."
