IT department to form teams in each district to keep a check on flow of money during assembly elections

Bhatkallys News Bureau/ Wafa Kifa Mangaluru 18 March 2018: I-T Department(Investigation) will form teams in each district of state to check flow of money during the forthcoming Assembly Election, said B R Balakrishna, Director General of Income Tax of Karnataka and Goa region. Balakrishna was speaking at an inaugural function of the office of Additional Commissioner of Income tax, Central range on Friday, March 16. He said that, In regard to ensure fair and transparent election, the EC had convened a series of meetings. And one such issue was discussed on keeping a check of flow of money during elections. In regard to Benami properties he said, following to the Amended act 2016, the I-T department have seized Benami properties worth around Rs 500 Crore in both Karnataka and Goa. Adjudication of these properties is in process and if it proved to be Benami, then it will be confiscated by the Government. City Police Commissioner T R Sursh and others were present at occasion.
