Ishwar Naik elected new President of Bhatkal Taluka Panchayat

May 07, 2016 | Correspondent | Bhatkallys News Bhatkal: Ishwar Naik has been elected as the new President of Bhatkal Taluka Panchayat while Radha Ashok Vaidya has been elected as the Vice President. Both belong to the Congress Party and have been elected unopposed without any opposition. The election for new office bearers was held at Bhatkal Taluka panchayat hall on Friday with nominations from Hanumanth Naik (BJP) and Ishwar Naik (Congress) for the President's post while only Radha Vaidya (Congress) had filed nomination for the Vice President's post. Hanumanth Naik (BJP) withdrew his nomination at the last moment, paving way for an easy win for Ishwar Naik. The election was held under the supervision of Bhatkal Assistant Commissioner Chidanand Vatare. On this occasion, Bhatkal MLA Mankal Vaidya, Tahsildar V N Baadkar, Taluka Panchayat officer C T Naik, Chairman of Karnataka Spice Board Muzammil Kazia and others were also present. - ARF
