IS sympathiser from Tamil Nadu arrested in Delhi

The National Investigation Agency ( NIA) has arrested Shafeek Ahamed, 30, of Adirampattinam, Thanjavur, for his alleged involvement as conspirator who facilated an IS operative to procure Indian passport in 2017. Sources said Shajahan was arrested on July 01, 2017 at IGI airport, New Delhi on his deportation by the Turkish authorities in connection with his involvement in IS activities. Another accused named Mohammed Mustafa was arrested from Chennai, ten days later. Subsequently, NIA, New Delhi, took over investigation of the case. The accused V.K.Shajhan alias Shajahan Velluva Kandy and Mohammed Mustafa were charge sheeted by NIA in December last year. During further investigation, it emerged that Shafeek Ahamed had facilitated procurement of the Indian passport by Shajahan, in the name of Mohammed Ismail Mohideen on the basis of forged documents. On Tuesday, he was produced before the NIA Special Court, New Delhi, and remanded to seven day’s NIA custody for interrogation. Source: The Hindu
