IPS Officer Dr. Suman D Pennekar takes charge as new SP of Uttara Kannada district

Karwar 31-Oct-2021: IPS Officer Dr. Suman D Pennekar, on Sunday took charge as the first-ever woman Superintendent of Police of Uttara Kannada District. Dr. Suman took charge of the office from Shiva Prakash Devaraju who was the SP of the district since August 2019. Dr. Suman D Pennekar, an IPS Officer 2013 batch was serving as the Deputy Director of Karnataka Police Academy (KPA), Mysuru before being transferred as the SP of Uttara Kannada District. Her predecessor Shiva Prakash Devaraju has been transferred as the SP of Gadag District. Speaking over the phone, Dr. Suman said controlling the crime in the district will be her priority as the SP of Uttara Kannada. Shiva Prakash Devaraju took charge of the office as SP of the UK district in August 2019 and was instrumental in taking measures to control the menace of the COVID pandemic. He was popular among the people of the district for his services during the pandemic. In Twitter post, Devaraju thanked people of the district for their support and said he was fortunate to have served in the district as he move to his next posting in Gadag.
