International body building champion Valentine D'Souza is the new Dy.SP of Bhatkal

Bhatkal 30 March 2018: Valentine D'Souza (52) who recently represented India at the International Natural Body Building Championship at Las Vegas, USA and won the award of best poser of the competition has now taken charge as the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy.SP) Bhatkal Sub-Division from 12 March 2018.
An officer of KSP Batch 1994 D'Souza had earlier served Bhatkal as the Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) and was later promoted as Circle Police Inspector (CPI) of Bhatkal during 2002-2003 and was posted here for almost one and a half year. Before his current posting in Bhatkal, D'Souza was posted as Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mangaluru City Crime Branch and had dealt with several sensitive cases.
A team of Bhatkallys.com led by Ismail Zaorez met Valentine D'Souza at his office on Thursday and tried to know his priorities and about the changes he would want to bring in Bhatkal during his posting here. D'Souza stressed upon resolving the traffic issues of Bhatkal and said "I would be happy if we as an department can do something to bring the traffic issues in control, we are planning to organize awareness programs in this regard and after that we also have an action plan which we will implement after the awareness campaigns".
"More importantly, I would also want to work towards eliminating certain factors which are proactively trying to disrupt the peace and harmony in the region lately" he added referring to the communal clashes that took place in the district in December last year. "I have only served sensitive places throughout my career like Bantwal, Chickmagalur, Kundapur, Udupi and Honnavar as CPI and Mangaluru as ACP City Crime Branch, so I hope my experience will come into play in eliminating these factors from the region" he added.
"I had served this place in 2002-2003 and I know that people here are very nice and co-operative I' am looking forward towards building good relationship and rapport between public and the department".
Speaking of his passion for body building he said "I started body building at the age of 16 and I have work tirelessly to maintain my body over the years, I have never used any protein supplements or steroids, what you see is a completely natural body" he says with an smile on his face.
He also appreciated the athletic nature of the youngsters here in Bhatkal and said "Youngsters here are capable of playing sports at international level (referring to the BIFA team that will play international football tournament in April) I was surprised to know that they have so much of talent here, and I am hopeful in bringing up some new programs for the youngster here so that they get more exposure in different sports".
Interestingly Valentine D'Souza is also the elder brother of Johnson D'Souza who had served Bhatkal as PSI few years back and was widely known among the locals during his posting here.
