Almost 150 tonnes of fruit, vegetables and meat were seized from illegal markets by health inspectors in Dubai. An official from Dubai Municipality said the seized food was not being stored at the correct temperatures and was deemed unsuitable for human consumption. “A large amount of food stuff sold in these markets is picked up from rubbish containers,” the official said. The food was confiscated during a number of raids on unlicensed markets in the industrial areas of Dubai. Health inspectors carry out regular inspections in these areas to deter vendors from selling spoilt food. Source: TheNational.ae
