Madekeri 22 Nov 2017: The inquiry commission headed by retired Justice K N Keshavanarayana, probing the Suicide case of deputy superintendent of police, M K Ganapati, expressed its concerns over the negligent approach of the local police in the investigations of the case. The commission listed out the loopholes in the investigation by the police investigating team and sought the explanation by them. Inspector Medappa, who led the initial investigation of the case recorded his statement on Tuesday Nov 21 when he appeared before the inquiry commission in Bengaluru. The inquiry commission grilled the officer for over 6 hours and questioned him about the lapses and loopholes by his team in conducting the investigation. The commission reportedly asked him the reason, why he concluded initially that the case was that of a suicide before even entering the Vinayaka lodge where Ganapathy was staying. The commission then asked him why he did not call the forensic team on the crime scene before opening the room of the lodge occupied by Ganapathy. The commission while asking why Ganapathy's mobile phone was not seized, raised its concern over the lax approach in investigation in a sensitive and high-profile case.
