DUBAI: An Indian student in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) committed suicide after performing poorly in the CBSE examination, a media report said.
The boy, identified only as AS, was a talented grade 11 student of an Indian school in Dubai and lived in Sharjah.
He was reportedly upset over his poor showing on the first day of his examination conducted a few days ago by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The boy's family is from Kerala.
The student was found hanging from the terrace of his apartment building in Sharjah Sunday, hours after he left his home in Dubai on the pretext of going to school to sit for the second day's examination.
Parents thought the boy had gone to school but they got a call from the school that he did not turn up.
The parents filed a missing complaint with the Sharjah police, who traced the boy's mobile phone and tracked him to the terrace of the building.
According to the parents, their son was upset as he did not do well in the previous day's examination.
