Independent candidates dominate Jaali panchayat elections

April 27, 2016 | Correspondent | Bhatkallys News Bhatkal: Independent candidates today edged ahead of Congress and BJP in Jaali panchayat elections. Vote counting for Jaali pattan panchayat elections concluded today morning in which Independent candidates managed to secure total 12 seats while Congress had to settle with 5 seats. BJP could manage only 3 seats. Elections on Sunday in ten polling booths recorded an overall voter turnout of 68.8%. 10 candidates were elected unopposed in the Jaali pattan panchayat prior to the elections while elections were held for the remaining 10 seats on April 24, 2016 for which 24 candidates were in fray.
