Independence day celebrated in Bhatkal

Bhatkal 15 August 2017: The 71st Independence day celebrations were on a roll in the town with the tri-color being hoisted by all the social and educational organizations.
The official Independence day parade was held at Taluka stadium in Nawayath colony where Bhatkal assistant commissioner MN Manjunath unfurled the National Flag and addressed the program, and spoke about the hard work and sacrifices made by the freedom fighters to free the land from the British rule.

Bhatkal MLA Mankal Vaidya presided over the event, in his presidential address Vaidya endorsed the attempt of state government of waiving the farm loans off farmers of the state, he also said the Honnavar Vidhan Sabha constituency will see new educational reforms by the government very soon.
Taluka Panchayath president Ishwar Naik, TMC president Sadiq Matta, Jali Panchayath president Abdul Rahim Shaikh, Zilla Panchayath member Sindhu Bhaskar Naik, Dy.SP Shivkumar, Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem president Muzammil Kazia, and other were among those occupied the seats on diaz. Tahsildar VN Bhatkar welcomed the audience while BEO Venkatesh Patkar presented vote of Thanks.
Students of several schools and colleges along with the police department took part in the march past ceremony at the stadium.
