Incessant rains wreak havoc in Bhatkal

Bhatkal: After a break, incessant rains lashed Bhatkal and adjoining coastal towns and villages on Sunday from morning to evening throwing normal life out of gear. The cloud remained overcast throughout the day. With lack of storm water drains, water was seen flowing on the roads in several parts of the town.
A youth, identified as Zulkifl, 25, who went for swimming in a river near Ghousia Street was washed away in Sharabi River by strong current of water. Rise in water-level of rivers and compound/house wall collapses have been reported from several parts of the town including Hurulisaal, Puravarga and Maghdoom Colony.
Becuase of heavy rains, several areas in Bhatkal have also been inundated. Shamsuddin Circle and Rangeen Katte have also been completely inundated disrupting the movement of vehicles on Bhatkal National Highway (NH-66).
Several houses in Azad Nagar and Jamiabad Road, a temple near Chouthani and a Church in Puravarga have been inundated because of incessant rains.
