Bhatkal: Heavy and incessant rains in Bhatkal since past two days have caused disruption to normal life. Incessant rains have caused rain water from roads and drains to spill over in homes and also caused lot of inconvenience to pedestrians and school-going kids.
Bhatkal has recorded 180.6 mm rainfall from Monday till Tuesday with total of 682.00 mm of rains till now. As compared to the previous year this year has recorded 10% more rainfall till yesterday. Farmers too are facing problems because of heavy unexpected rains as they were not prepared for it.
A torrential downpour since Monday caused water-logging on Rangeen Katta, Shamsuddin Circle, Main Road, Haneefabad, Nelesar, V T Road, Bengre, Belni, Chautani, Mundali, Kokti Nagar and many other areas. Blockades in drainage lines caused water to spill over in homes, temples, and shops. Apart from that, faulty drainage lines near pumping system in Gousia Street caused water from drains to mix into the wells. Angry residents of Gousia street called Municipal Cheif Anupama to demonstrate it.
