IMD issues alert on rising heat, humidity in Coastal Karnataka till April 12

Mangaluru, Apr 10: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of rising heat and humidity levels across Coastal Karnataka, with conditions expected to persist until April 12.

According to the IMD, coastal districts such as Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada are likely to experience increasingly hot weather coupled with high atmospheric moisture. This combination is expected to create uncomfortable and oppressive conditions, particularly during the daytime.

Officials cautioned that the rise in humidity could intensify the impact of heat, making conditions feel warmer than actual temperatures.

The department further noted that such weather patterns may lead to discomfort and fatigue, especially among vulnerable groups including the elderly, children, and those with existing health conditions.

In view of the prevailing conditions, the IMD has advised the public to take necessary precautions while stepping outdoors and to remain adequately hydrated. Residents in the coastal belt have also been urged to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during peak hours and to stay alert to changing weather conditions.

The advisory comes as Coastal Karnataka continues to witness seasonal fluctuations, with rising temperatures and moisture levels indicating the onset of more intense pre-monsoon conditions in the region.
