Illegal wood worth Rs 5 lakh seized from a house in Venkatapur

Bhatkal - 18 June 2011: Forest officials yesterday conducted a raid on a house located in Venkatapur and seized illegal wood worth Rs 5 lakh. Two persons Krishna Murthy Bhatt and Neer Kantayya are allegedly involved in this illegal wood trade who are now absconding. According to the sources, they use to lift Teak, BT, Akashi, Nandi and other types of wood from Bhatkal forest and deposit in their house in Venkatapur from where they were running this illegal business.

On this occasion, RFO Mr Manjunath, ASI Mr Salegar, Mr Vasanth Gaonkar, Mr Suresh, Forest offiers Mr Subhash and DFO Mr O Krishna were present.
