Illegal sand mining in Bhatkal: officials seize one truck

Bhatkal 4 March 2019:(Bhatkallys News Bureau) The revenue department officials on Sunday seized a truck over illegal smuggling of sand at Mavinkurve Gram Panchayat limits near Karikal of Bhatkal Taluka. On receiving complaints of illegal sand mining by the local residents, Bhatkal Tahsildar of on Sunday ordered the revenue officials of the to look into the matter. However, when the officials reached near the beach area in Karikal, they noticed group of few people filling the sand into the truck. On noticing the officials the accused fled away from the spot.The officials later seized the vehicle. The case was later handed over to Bhatkal rural police station for further investigation. Revenue inspector Ganapati Metri, village accountant Annaiah, Salman Khan and others were present in the operation. (Bhatkallys News Bureau)
