Illegal liquor worth 12 lac being smuggled seized in Karwar

Karwar 12 October 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Karwar Excise Officials on Wednesday late night seized a truck carrying illegal alcohol worth Rs.12 lac here at Anmod check post of Karwar and arrested two smugglers. The detained have been identified as Sachin Laxman Atki and Amar Prakash Yadge, both resident of Maharastra. As per sources the vehicle which was on its way to Pune from Goa turned their way towards Karnataka Border due to intense checking at the check-post at other region. However, when the truck reached Anmod checkpost the officials found about 194 boxes of Goan alcohol hidden in the truck. The officials then detained the two accused and seized 1,641 liters of Alcohol worth Rs.12.68 lac and truck worth Rs.8.5 lac. Excise officials L.A. Manjunath, Gangayya, M.H.Anavahari, Balakrishna Puttaswami, Shirkanth Jadhav, and others were present during the operation. (Bhatkallys News Bureau)
