Karwar - 24 Apr 2012: The police in Uttara Kannada district are in contact with their counterparts in other States in addition to several investigation agencies in the country to curb anti-national activities being carried out by some persons who hail from Bhatkal, said Pratap Reddy, Inspector-General of Police, Western Range.

Mr. Reddy told presspersons in Karwar on Monday that the police in the district were vigilant and were working in coordination with the police of other States.

He said it was difficult to identify sleeper cells in Bhatkal as they were not involved in criminal activities at the local level.

He claimed that some people who had roots in Bhatkal were caught by the police of different States for carrying out the anti-national activities and smuggling.

But all the information about policing could not be shared with the media, he said.
