Idara Adab Islami, Karnatak & Goa Zone announces Dr Abdul Mugni and Hafeez Merathi Awards

Belgaum - Idara Adab Islami, Karnatak & Goa Zone is introducing 'Dr Abdul Mugni' and 'Hafeez Merathi' Awards. General Secretary of IAI K&G Zone Mr Samad Khanapuri while providing the details said, these awards will be given to those who have contributed towards growth of clean and benchmark literature. 'Dr Mugni Award' is for prose section while 'Hafeez Merathi Award' will cover poetic section. The Award will comprise of Rs. 10,000/- cash, memento, certificate, shawl and a flower garland.

The names of the recipients for this prestigious award were announced at an Executive Committee meeting held at Hubli recently. For the year 2008-09, the Hafeez Merathi Award will be presented to a renowned poet Mr Syed Ahmed Esar, Bangalore while Dr Mugni Award will go to famous author and novelist Mr Hafiz Shabbir Ahmed Manzar Quddusi. Similarly, for the year 2009-10 the Hafeez Merathi Award will be presented to a renowned poet Mr Mazhar Mohiddin while Dr Mugni Award will go to Bhatkal's famous Urdu scholar and critic Dr Shah Rashad Usmani. This award is expected to be awarded in January 2011.

Brief Introduction of Dr Shah Rashad Usmani

Born on 25th March 1959 in Patna, Bihar, he is currently a National Vice-President of Idara Adab Islami Hind and a Head of the Urdu Department at Anjuman Degree College Bhatkal. He has authored several books, some of which are Roshan Tehzeeb, Roshan Hayath, Nazriya Adab o Adeeb, Urdu Shairi mein Naatgoi, Adab ka Islami Tanazur, Taa'beer o Tashkeel, Nazriyathi Adab, Sho'ra-e-Bhatkal aur Naat.
