Bhatkallys News Bureau/ I. Zaorez Shabab Bengaluru 13 Dec 2017: In a press release uploaded on the official twitter handle of the CM of Karnataka dated 13-12-2017 Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, has addressed the people of Karnataka as his family, while also taking pride in fulfilling his dream of the Karnataka being what he envisioned while taking the oath as the CM of the State. The full text of the press release is as follows: My dear friends, Over four years ago, the people of Karnataka entrusted my government with the responsibility of serving you all. When I took the oath to the office of the Chief Minister, I also made a promise to myself - to abide by all promises and assurance made to my people. It is this commitment that has guided my government's development agenda. While taking oath, I envisioned a Karnataka where the essential need of education, health and housing are available and accessible to every citizen of the state; a state that enables everyone to live in dignity and without fearof discrimination; making agriculture flourish and allowing the farmers a life of contentment; industries prospering and investing in Karnataka's growth, creating ample employment opportunities for the people. It has been a matter of pride for me to witness this dream becoming a reality in the past four and a half years. Politics, for me, has always been an opportunity to serve people, and to make a difference in their lives. Our government has worked towards serving each and every citizen, ushering a period of inclusive development. The Sarvodaya model of development, based on the belief that each citizen benefits from development, form the basis for the 'Karnataka Model of Development'. This model draws inspiration from the preceptor of social justice - Basavanna, the harbinger of Grama Swarajya - Mahatma Gandhiji, and Babasaheb Ambedkar, who envisioned social democracy, among other eminent social reformers. In Karnataka, we do not differentiate between the regions and instead work towards holistic development of all the 6.5 crore people. While some regions have been backward due to historical reasons, we have upheld equal distribution and allocation of resources to create a well developed Karnataka, that can be a model for the rest of the country. Our political ethic does not allow us to indulge in discrimination and disparity, with the intent of inciting regionalism in the hearts of the people. Karnataka is our land and our home, and we bear the huge responsibility to preserve its diverse cultural ethos. I see Karnataka and its people as my family and have done my best to make it scale new heights, as any son would. May the blessings of the people always be bestowed upon this government, as we work towards building a New Karnataka. As we forge this Karnataka for all our citizens, we also commit to foster the progressive ethos of our great land, and reassert the secular ideals that define us as people.
