Hyderabad: IIT student dies after falling from hostel terrace

Hyderabad: A 22-year-old student passed away when he accidentally fell from the terrace of his hostel building. A student of the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IIT-H), the deceased allegedly fell from the building of his seven-storey hostel on Friday while talking on the phone and succumbed to his injuries on the spot. The student allegedly fell from his terrace and died on the spot. Identified as M Anirudhya, the deceased was a fourth year student pursuing mechanical and aerospace engineering from the Indian Institute of Hyderabad. The student fell from the seven-storeyed building of his hostel on Friday. While talking to the Hindustan Times', the sub-inspector of police, Sangareddy (rural) Srikanth said that the parents of the deceased hail from Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh but used to reside at Bowenpally in Hyderabad. The deceased went to the terrace at 12.45 am to talk to a friend on the phone when he fell and died instantly. The sub-inspector stated that earlier they suspected that the deceased had committed suicide, but when they scanned the CCTV footage, they saw that Anirudhya had slipped and had fallen from the terrace. While talking to his hostel mates, it was discovered that the deceased used to go to the terrace to read books on his mobile phone and for talking on the phone as well. The dead body was handed over to the his family after the autopsy was conducted at the Sangareddy government hospital.
