Host Cosmos lifts Cosmos Champions Trophy in a Thriller

BHATKAL: Host Cosmos defeated Parshurama to lift Cosmos Champions Trophy Kabaddi Tournament in a thrilling finale which held here at an artificial stadium under flood lights. The match was tied after both teams scored 10 points each in their allotted time but the Cosmos emerged victorious in an extra time in which they scored one point by catching Parshuram’s best rider in a nail biting finish. Cosmos and Parshurama entered the finals by defeating Labbaik and Mundgod respectively in their semi finals. The winners awarded Trophy and a cash prize of Rs 40,000/- while the runners up received trophy and a cash prize of Rs 25,000/-. Labbaik Nawayath received Rs 10,000/- and Mundgod got Rs 5,000/- for securing 3rd and 4th positions respectively. Mr Wasif of Cosmos adjudged Best All Rounder of the tournament. Mr Manoj of Parshurama and Mr Safwan & Mr Mudassir of Cosmos awarded Best Rider and Best Catchers respectively. The closing ceremony was graced by Mr Shivananda Naik – former Karnataka minister, Mr Jagadish Kumble – National Kabaddi Player, Mr B C Ramesh – former India Kabaddi Captain, TMC President – Mr Inayatullah Shabandri, Mr Imtiyaz Udyawar – Presient of Bhatkal Taluka Kabaddi Federation and Mr Krishna Naik among others.
