Honnavar: BJP silenced; government orders CBI probe in Paresh Mesta's case

Zaorez Shabab Honavar 14 Dec 2017: Following the protests by BJP and other right wing organizations in Uttara Kannada District demanding the NIA probe in the investigation of the alleged murder of Paresh Mesta (18) of Honnavar, the state government on Wednesday ordered a CBI investigation of the case. Right after the forensic report of Paresh was made public which confirmed no foul play in the death of the youngster, BJP leaders including MP Shobha Karandlaje and MP Ananth Kumar Hegde were campaigning for the NIA investigation of the case alleging the role of 'Jihadi elements' in the murder while blaming the state government covering up the issue for vote bank politics. The BJP had constantly claimed Paresh to be its party worker. Kamalakar had also requested state government for CBI investigation of the case. The state govt's order issued on Wednesday read "In view of this request (by Paresh's father) and public protests in different locations in Uttara Kannada district and damage to public and private properties, the government has decided to entrust the case to the CBI for investigation," The forensic report had confirmed that there was no external injuries of any weapons on Paresh's body, and the two injuries on his body could have been caused by a blunt force. The report also denied the claims of BJP that his the sacred tattoo on his hand was destroyed forcefully, stating that the mark of tattoo was there on his hand although it was not visible due to putrefaction of the body. It will be important to see how the CBI investigations of the case conclude and how far the claims of the BJP are proven true, and if the CBI investigation conclude without finding any angle of murder as claimed by the BJP who shall be held responsible for the protests, damage to public and private properties by these right wing goons and the social boycott and other harassment faced by the minorities in some places over the last few days?
