Hike in prices of Electricity: Al-Falah Association in Bhatkal writes to Karnataka Governor, asks him to direct government to take back order

Bhatkal 23 October 2019: Taking note of the hike in prices of electricity by the state government, local organisation Al-Falah Youth Service Association has written to Karnataka Governor urging him to intervene in the matter. In the memorandum submitted by the organisation, it has urged the Governor to direct state government to take back its order which has hiked prices of electricity without any prior notice. The memorandum was submitted to the Governor through HESCOM Assistant Engineer on Tuesday. The memorandum further stated that the state was already under crisis due to the losses incurred due to floods and heavy rains and the hike of prices of electricity will only burden the common people. It also noted that the newly installed electric meters across Bhatkal Taluk shows inaccurate reading of consumption of electricity and residents end up paying more bill than the actual consumption of electricity at their respective houses and shops. The memorandum sought action to be taken in this regard. Showkat Khateeb, Mowlana Wasiullah, Nasif Ikkeri, Abdul Salam Ruknuddin and others were present while submitting thr memorandum.
