Here's how a Non-IIT Mumbai lad bagged Rs 1.2 crore job at Google's London office!

New Delhi: When it comes to jobs in Google and Microsoft, Indians always think about IITs as both tech giants are known for hiring IITans. However, Mumbai's 21-year-old Abdullah Khan who failed to crack IIT entrance exam has landed a job at Google's London office. While the starting salary package for a non-IIT engineer in India is around 4-6 lakh per year, Khan will be earning Rs 1.2 crore, reported Times of India. The national daily report mentioned that Google called Shree LR Tiwari Engineering College student Khan for an interview on the basis of this profile on a competitive programming challenge website. After a couple of online interviews, Khan flew down to Google's London office earlier this month for the final screening where he was hired. His hefty salary package includes Rs 52.5 lakh base salary, 15 per cent bonus and stock options worth Rs 58.9 lakh over four years. Khan is currently in his final year of BE (computer science) and he will join Google's site reliability engineering team in September this year, the report added. Khan, who used to participate in programming challenges online, was quoted in the report saying, "I used to participate as it was fun. I did not even know that firms check programmers' profiles on such sites. I showed the email to my friend who knew someone who had received such an email in the past. I am looking forward to joining their team. It will be an amazing learning experience for me." Worth mentioning here is that he was schooled in Saudi Arabia before moving to Mumbai in class 12th.
