Bhatkal 12 December 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) A group of about 20 locals of Bhatkal, have started a helpline to provide assistance to the investors who invested their money in the ponzi scam 'Flawless investments' that shook the coastal town of Bhatkal earlier this year.
An office was opened on December 11, near Royal Enfield showroom on NH 66 near hotel city light, where people are turning up in numbers with their payment receipts as evidences.
The helpline aims to help investors by collecting their documents pertaining to their investments and further strengthening the legal case against the company and their stakeholders, including Wasique and Imran Aydrusa who are under police custody, since last Friday.
"We want to help people, we want to make sure that at least the principal amount of investment of people are returned to them at the earliest. We (the group members) too have our money invested with the company, so we can absolutely relate to the suffering of people who have invested their hard earned money in the scheme" one of the group member told Bhatkallys.com
"We requested people through WhatsApp messages to join us in our fight, and so far the response we have got is good, we have received more than 200 people registered with us, as per our estimation about 2000 people have invested money in the company, so we are expecting more and more people to join in, we also request them to join the fight".
"People were duped by lies fake promises to invest money, reports says that there is a whopping Rs. 300 crores invested in the scam by the people, we will do every bit to help get it back" the group member added.
When Bhatkallys.com visited the office at 8.30 pm, it was running over time as its timing in the evening is scheduled till 7.00 pm.
The group members also sought support from local socio-political body Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem asserting that "Tanzeem is like our mentor and father, if we are in trouble out father is the first person who helps us, similarly we request Tanzeem to step in, into the issue and help locals as it will further strengthen us" group members added.
When contacted, Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem General secretary Altaf Kharuri, added "Till now nobody has appoached us in the matter, if someone writes to us seeking our assistance we will hold a meeting with Qazis and other Muslim Scholars and see if it is permissible to help them, since the whole scam can also amount upto the interest money, which is Haraam in Islam".
