Heavy rains lash Mumbai, waterlogging at several places

MUMBAI: Heavy rains lashed many parts of Mumbai since Thursday morning. Parts of Mulund, Ghatkopar, Kurla, Dadar and Parel received a significant downpour. The rains caused waterlogging at many parts of the city and especially in low lying areas. Parts of Khar, Sion and Worli witnessed significant accumulation of rain water. The rainfall recorded in one hour span from 11am-12 noon by the BMC automatic weather stations at Kurla was 15 mm, Chembur 13mm Goregaon 26mm, and Malad 18 mm. The IMD has forecasted rain and thunder showers for the Mumbai in next 24 hours. "North coastal Maharashtra, including Mumbai, may see heavy to very-heavy rain at some places between June 9 and 12," said an IMD release. Although, the normal date for onset of monsoons over Mumbai is June 10, MeT has also forecasted early rains. Source: Times Of India
