Heavy rainfall warning for Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha next week

• The weather system, which formed around 8.30 am today, is likely to move west-northwestwards and concentrate into a depression over north Andaman Sea and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal by Monday.

New Delhi: Heavy rainfall is likely to lash some parts of Karnataka, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh next week as a low pressure area formed over south Andaman Sea and adjoining Thailand coast on Saturday, the IMD said. The weather system, which formed around 8.30 am today, is likely to move west-northwestwards and concentrate into a depression over north Andaman Sea and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal by Monday. The system is likely to continue tomove west–northwestwards, intensify further and reach near Andhra Pradesh coast by November 18, according to the  India Meteorological Department (IMD). The Met office has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over Andaman and Nicobar Islands till Monday and over coastal Andhra Pradesh on November 17. It also forecast heavy rainfall at isolated places in south interior Karnataka till November 16 and in Odisha on November 17. A yellow alert of downpour has been sounded in Ganjam and Gajapati in south-coastal Odisha on November 17. Squall with wind speed gusting up to 65 kmph is likely to commence along the Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coasts from November 17. The weather department has advised the fisherfolk not to venture into the Andaman Sea and southeast Bay of Bengal till Monday as sea conditions will be rough to very rough. They have been told to keep off of the Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coasts on Wednesday and Thursday. (Source: Times Now News)
