Heavy rain hits coastal region including Bhatkal

Bhatkal - Unseasonal rain accompanied by strong winds hit Bhatkal and entire coastal belt between Mangalore and Karwar yesterday throwing normal life out of gear. Reports of damage to property and heavy landslide have been reported from various parts of the region. Heavy landslide near Karwar damaged Mumbai bound Matsyagandha Expresss wherein one woman died and 25 passengers were injured. In Bhatkal, strong winds uprooted two electric poles near Madeena Masjid and damaged service wire resulting into complete power failure in the area. Meanwhile the work is in progress to restore the power supply.
