Heavy rain floods streets in Bangalore

BANGALORE: The pre-monsoons showers saved its best for Wednesday night, when the city experienced its heaviest rainfall in the last couple of days, leading to waterlogged streets and tree fall in certain areas.
There were tree-falls in four areas of the city, said BBMP control room officials.
"There were tree falls in Basaveshwaranagar, Dasarahalli, Kamalanagar and Malleswaram 18th Cross respectively."
The heavy showers that occurred between 10pm and 12 midnight had major connecting roads of the city flooded. Some of them were Lalbagh Road, Old Airport Road, Mysore Road, Kino Theatre Road, and Banaswadi Main Road. People were seen taking shelter under roadside shops even at about 10.30pm.
According to officials of Met department, the current showers are due to pre-monsoon rains, which is set to last till the end of May or early June, until the arrival of monsoon.
