Heavy Protest in state against Tipu Jayanthi, several BJP Leaders arrested

Bhatkallys News Service/ Ismail Zaorez Shabab Mangaluru: Heavy protest came in against the Tipu Jayanti Celebration in Mangaluru by right wing organizations like Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal activists. The District administration celebrated Tipu Jayanthi at Zilla Panchayath auditorium on Thursday. MP Nalin Kumar and MLC Ganesh Naik led the protest, with BJP, Bajrang Dal and VHP Activists at Zilla Panchayath office, which was surrounded by Security personnel who were deployed in Numbers keeping in mind the threat of protests which were foreseen after series of calls by Top BJP officials for Protest against the celebration which was first celebrated last year to mark the birth anniversary of Tipu Sultan, a king of Mysore. Nalin Kumar and Ganesh Karnik tried to interrupt the celebration by gathering with activist outside the office with Black Flags and tried to enter the auditorium hall. The police immediately took the charge and stopped the protestors leading to heavy argument between Deputy Commissioner of Police Shantaraju and Nalin Kumar, when Cops Tried to drag Kumar into the waiting Bus. Activesits were detained and taken away to Panambur, Mangaluru, and Bajpe Police stations. Heavy police personnel were deployed at the zilla Panchayath office, with several Drone cameras doing rounds up in the air for surveillance, and a Team of Kerala Armed Police especially called in for the posting. Several Photographers were also called to capture people trying to enter the venue. Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment B. Ramanath Rai, Mayor Harinath, MLA Mohiuddin Bava, MLC Ivan D'Souza, and Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy Chairperson Janaki Brahmavar participated in the function. Congress activists, Zilla Panchayat employees and district-level officers attended the programme. Tumkur, Hassan, Belagavi were other districts where tension was reported and several Leaders of BJP were detained in Belagavi and Hassan. BJP district president of Tumkuru, Jyothi Gamesh along with 40 activist were detained in Tumkuru, The Hassan police took into custody around 10 BJP leaders, including district BJP president H.Yogaramesh. In Hassan Tension Prevailed when an defaced Poster of Tipu Sultan was used by BJP workers under the leadership of City president Anil Belke. Police rushed on the spot and took the poster down and took Several workers including Anil Belke under Preventive custody.
