Health workers in Bhatkal stage protest with various demands, submit memorandum to Tahsildar

Bhatkal: October 4, 2020 (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Bhatkal Government Hospital and Shirali Government Hospital staff including nurses, BUMS doctors and health workers working in various departments of the government hospital have been protesting for the past one week with several demands. They gathered outside the Tahsildar's office on Saturday and presented a memorandum addressing to the government through Tahsildar. In the memorandum, it was stated that the health workers serving on contract basis under the Department of Health, Department of Medical Education and National Health Program have decided to go on strike from September 26 until their 14 major demands including their salaries and other benefits were met. Since Government has not fulfilled their demands and not paid attention to them, the health workers decided to sit on 'Dharna' from today. It has been informed that this protest shall be staged outside the Tahsildar's office in Bhatkal daily from 10.30 AM to 1 PM by the health workers till their demands are not met. Employees of the Bhatkal unit of the Karnataka State Health and Family Welfare Employees Union and several others from the Health Department were present on the occasion.
