Headway in Abdul Salam murder case; 1 arrested

Bhatkal - 15 Sep 2011: Bhatkal police today arrested one person from Bhatkal's Tengingundi village in connection with Medical Salam murder case and produced him before Judicial Magistrate in Kumta Court where the Judge sent him to two days police custody. The arrested person was identified as Pundalik Narayana Naik (30), on whose car late Abdul Salam was last seen before being murdered and dumped in Kumta forest.

Meanwhile, the investigation is in full swing and several police teams have been formed to collect strong evidence and clues. Some more arrests are expected in two three days.

According to the sources, DySp Mr P N D Birje was leading the probe with the help of CPI, Mr Arvind Kalguji, Bhatkal CPI, Mr Shir Prakash and Kumta CPI, Mr Shrikanth. The investigation team is questioning the people involved in land dealing with late Abdul Salam and those who had made telephonic conversations with him as per his cell phone records.
