Bengaluru: The resignation submitted by Minister for Primary and Secondary Education N. Mahesh, the lone BSP legislator in the coalition state government has been kept on hold by Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy. Reportedly Mahesh tendered his resignation on instructions from Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati. It is now learnt that Kumaraswamy plans to hold talks with Mayawati and hopefully convince her to allow Mahesh to continue in the Cabinet. Notably, Mahesh's resignation came close on the heels of Mayawati's announcement that her party will not forge an alliance with the Congress. According to sources JD (S) Party supremo H.D. Deve Gowda and national secretary Danish Ali, the man who played a key role in forging the BSP-JD (S) alliance in the run-up to the 2018 Assembly polls, held discussions over the issue which has ironically cropped up just ahead of the byelections to three Lok Sabha and two Assembly seats in the state. Deve Gowda has asked Ali to pursue the matter with Mayawati, it is said. Source: Udayavani
