Haliyal: Village Accountant caught red-handed by ACB while accepting bribe from farmers

Haliyal 28 June 2019: (Bhatkallys News Bureau)A village accountant was caught red handed by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while accepting bribe from a farmer here his office at Haliyal Taluka.
The accused has been identified as Girish Hanumanta Ranadev, village accountant of Murkawad Hobli.
According to sources, two farmers of a village in Haliyal Taluka had come to Village Accountant for verification of the documents relating to their land. However, the Village Accountant, allegedly demanded Rs.3,000 bribe from them to do their work.
Irked over this, the duo farmers contacted the ACB and complained regarding the matter. They also showed the phone calls by Village Accountant alleging the demand of bribe from him.
On Thursday, the Village Accountant was caught red handed while accepting Rs.3,000 bribe from the farmers. After initial investigation, the official registered a case against him.
ACB DySP Girish SV, inspector SR Kattimani, Ramesh Hanapura, and others were present during the operation.
