Gram panchayat elections in Bhatkal record 69.29% polling

May 29, 2015 | Rizwan Gangavaly | Bhatkallys News Bhatkal: The first phase of gram panchayat elections held of Friday May 29 concluded peacefully with Bhatkal recording an overall voter turnout of 69.29%. In the elections held today, 257 candidates were in fray for 16 gram panchayats in the taluka. Hadoli gram panchayat recorded the highest voter turnout of 80.88% while Mauli gram panchayat recorded the least voter turn out of 49.01%. The ballet boxes have been placed in Taluka Center's Strong Room and strict security arrangements are into place. The vote counting will begin on June 1st. - ARF
