Govt to launch internet safety campaign

NEW DELHI: The union government, in collaboration with internet giant Google, will launch an internet safety campaign, particularly aimed at sensitising young adults and children on sensitive and tricky issues such cyber bullying and identity theft. Awareness guidelines will also be issued to government officials.
The government plans to reach out to various departments and ministries for consultations on as well as dissemination of best practices on Internet safety and data security as a part of this campaign. The campaign, according to a PIB release, will be carried out by Department of Electronics and Information and Technology (DeitY) which falls under the union ministry of Communications and Information Technology, in collaboration with Google and the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (Cert-In).
The date of launch, however, has not yet been specified.
